“This Dream Vacation is a request to help me celebrate myself, and that spirit that I have shown through one of the hardest times of my entire life.”

  • A proud former Chicago Public Schools teacher, Lisa Siciliano is a PhD student earning her doctorate in Learning Sciences. In March 2021, at age 38, Lisa was diagnosed with triple positive invasive breast cancer, along with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). In one year she received 12 rounds of chemo, 21 rounds of radiation, multiple rounds of immunotherapy infusions, and began a 5-10 year journey of hormone medication. Prior to starting chemo, she underwent four failed rounds of fertility preservation (IVF). Because of this, Lisa no longer has eggs of her own for a child in the future.

But during her battle, she exuded a spirit and determination to face her diagnosis head on. Because of the failed IVF attempts before chemo, Lisa hopes to carry a child through donor eggs and IVF, and she would love to be able to find a potential donor that shares her heritage. The thing is, she grew up familiar with her father's  Italian culture growing up, but didn't feel as connected to her mother's Finnish heritage.

That all started to change during her breast cancer battle as Lisa grew closer with her mother, sparking conversations about her Finnish heritage. As Lisa learned more about her Finnish roots, she felt the pull to connect with her ancestry and show her mother how much her heritage mattered. But with treatment and the pandemic, Lisa’s hopes were put on hold.

The Lisa Marzullo Fly Again Foundation created a custom 15-day Dream Vacation to Finland for Lisa and her husband Chuck. From saunas to a river igloo to an arctic treehouse, the Dream Vacation included stops in multiple cities so Lisa could fully immerse in the culture, but the most important was to ensure she visited where her Finnish family is from and where they live today.

While in Kokkola, Lisa had the experience of a lifetime when she met with many of her cousins, and saw photos and heard stories about her Finnish family she never knew. Today, Lisa keeps her Finnish family close–emotionally and geographically. In the year following her Dream Vacation, her Finnish family swapped the saunas for some sunshine and traveled to California for a reunion.

“I feel rejuvenated and refreshed.”

  • “My breast cancer journey is not as common as others, statistically.”

Imagine a world where you are 25, active, married, mother of a toddler, and have no family history of cancer. You have a fun night out with friends, then come home to soak in a bath, and then you discover a lump in your breast while soaking in a bath. That’s Chastain Brown’s story.

But, Chastain’s journey is not as common as others, statistically.

At 25, Chastain found a lump in her breast and was diagnosed with Stage 2 TNBC, which as you might know by now, exclusively impacts young adults. Chastain immediately started chemotherapy, and like our dear Lisa, she bonded with her nursing staff while she received 12 Taxol and Carboplatin, 4 AC drugs endearingly called the “Red Devil,” and Keytruda, enduring colitis as a side effect.

While she acknowledges that going through treatment was the hardest year of her life, Chastain resolved to stay as happy and hopeful as possible.” She attributes much of her unwavering strength to the support provided by her husband, Weston, and their two-year-old son, Wally.

In 2023, Chastain jetsetted to France with Weston. From the City of Lights to the French Riviera, the couple was able to revel in delicious food and drink, lively entertainment of the country. Chastain's Dream Vacation included savoring the Mediterranean Sea, cooking with fresh local ingredients in Nice, indulging in the world's finest cheeses (goat cheese being her favorite), experiencing the vibrant atmosphere of the Moulin Rouge, and relishing the delightful baguettes and affordable wine that France has to offer.

C'était un rêve devenu réalité pour Chastain aka “It was a dream come true!” for us still stateside.

“The trip was something like a dream. I wanted to be in it and experience it. I just really wanted to be in the moment.”

  • Samantha’s breast cancer journey began with her Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Stage 2 diagnosis, shortly after her 14-year-old daughter, Amirah, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

Samantha’s first year post-diagnosis consisted of four surgeries, including a double mastectomy and reconstruction, as well as “maintenance” for hormone receptor positive tumors. Samantha did the work and rang the bell to say “no more cancer”. But after three years of following her treatment plan, her cancer came back. After four rounds of chemotherapy and five weeks of radiation, Samantha rang the bell again in October 2022. As Samantha entered 2023, she needed an emergency liver transplant as a result of her breast cancer medications.

It’s been, and will continue to be, a journey for Samantha, but she finds joy and support from her daughter and travel companion, Amirah. Together, the two traveled to Jordan on a Dream Vacation where they explored the homeland of Samantha’s father who passed away shortly before the trip. In a beautiful twist, Samantha’s mother was able to fund herself and join the adventure; three generations of strong women living each moment to its fullest.

Their trip was jam-packed with excitement! They joined a lively group tour that explored the wonders of Jordan, from the bustling streets of Amman to the ancient ruins of Jerash and Petra. They enjoyed a culinary journey with cooking demonstrations and tasted local delights.

And who could forget their unique experience of floating in the Dead Sea, a moment of relaxation and wonder amid their adventures! But that's not all – they also raced through the vibrant red desertscapes of Wadi Rum, adding a dash of adventure to their unforgettable journey.

"It was a life changing trip. I am not the same."

  • At just 25, Taryn Lloyd noticed a lump in her breast—but doctors dismissed her, chalking it up to youth and dense tissue. She pressed on for years before finally being diagnosed with Stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma in 2019. Her fight kicked off: chemo, a port, radiation, and a fearless mindset rooted in thrill-seeking (shout-out to her skydiving days).

Fast-forward to 2022: Taryn faced another battle. Diagnosed again, now with Stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer, she powered through a double mastectomy, neck dissection, chemo-induced menopause, and more. Just as she was navigating her initial diagnosis, Taryn found love on a first date with Jake, who stood by her side from the very beginning.

Today, Taryn’s cancer has reached Stage 4, spreading to her lungs, but she refuses to be defined by it. In March 2025, Taryn and Jake jetted off to Iceland thanks to the Fly Again Foundation’s Dream Vacation grant—complete with glacier hikes, the Blue Lagoon, and a reminder of the sky she once flew. Taryn’s story is one of self-advocacy, resilience, and hope—she not only fought, she soared.

Jessenia in Hawaii.jpg

“This trip has been beyond anything I could have dreamed of.”

  • Jessenia Cisneros discovered she carried the BRCA1 gene in 2017—deciding to get tested after her grandmother’s ovarian cancer death and her mother’s two cancer battles. In 2022, after finding a lump via self-exam, she was diagnosed with Stage 3B triple-negative breast cancer—then raced into chemo, radiation, and six surgeries, with doctors still recommending more.

Through it all, Jessenia’s mental health took a hit—especially after a bout of cellulitis—but she rose by relentlessly advocating for herself. Her resilience, honesty, and raw ability to speak out hit home: “I want to be able to speak to all the little girls that come after us… ‘You’re not crazy, baby. You’re not crazy.’”

Jessenia was to travel to Oahu, Hawaii, with her mother, Rosalia, to relax and enjoy a special trip after all of their health battles. Sadly and unexpectedly,  Rosalia passed away before their trip, leaving Jessenia heartbroken. But Jessenia’s resilience continued, and she selected her fellow breast cancer thriver Kate to join her on a spiritual journey dedicated to Rosalia in Oahu. As for her post-vacation goals? Jessenia aims to continue to speak up for breast cancer fighters, and even went to DC to fight for breast cancer research funding and healthcare.

"Going backpacking and doing the W-Trek after cancer treatment would be such a powerful way to take my life back. To show my resilience. And really, the ultimate f*** you to cancer."

  • Mary-Kate was three weeks away from hitting the road with her husband Scott when she heard the words no 34-year-old expects: "I’m sorry to tell you that it is positive for invasive ductal carcinoma, and it is triple negative.” Just a year earlier, she’d been told, “I’m not super concerned, but there is a level of concern.” That level turned out to be life-altering.

In the months leading up to her diagnosis, Mary-Kate and Scott had quit their jobs, bought an empty cargo van, and were preparing to leave behind New Jersey to embrace full-time life on the road. But just as their adventure was about to begin, everything came to a screeching halt. Instead of Glacier National Park, there were mammograms. Instead of open highways, hospital beds. Six mammograms, two biopsies, eight rounds of chemo, twenty rounds of radiation—and through it all, one refrain: “When will the van be ready?”

The van, and everything it represented, became a symbol of survival. A declaration that cancer could delay her life, but not define it. Her Dream Vacation to Patagonia is more than a bucket list trip—it’s a return to joy, to freedom, to the wild places that make her feel small and infinite all at once.

“For me, flying again means returning to the person I was before cancer—but also embracing the person I’ve become through it. It means stepping back into the life that was momentarily paused with a renewed sense of gratitude and urgency to truly live.”

“This isn’t just a vacation. It’s a clear line in the sand—we’re moving forward.”

  • Bridget is a lifelong go-getter, a storyteller, and the proud mom of a fearless 5-year-old named Edie. In June 2024, just days after finding a lump in her armpit, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. But Bridget wasn’t new to breast cancer advocacy—she had founded Petite Pink at age 14 to teach teen girls how to do self-exams. That work saved her own life.

Through eight rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy, and 33 rounds of radiation, Bridget’s only goal was to make it to golden hour—dancing around the kitchen to country music and reading bedtime stories with all the voices. For the first time in her life, she was forced to ask for help, and her husband Kyle gently reminded her to store away her “Head Bitch in Charge” sash—so she could just be.

A Dream Vacation means stepping out of survival mode and into something that feels like living again. For Bridget, it’s about laughter, reconnection, and reclaiming being the life of the party. Because as she puts it: “Life is smaller, but the world is big—and it’s time to get after it again.”
